TDP MLA Lands In Trouble, Booked For Assaulting Police
Amaravati: Ruling party MLA and government chief whip of Andhra Pradesh, Chintamaneni Prabhakar was booked on Sunday night for allegedly assaulting a police constable on duty said the police on Monday.
A case was registered against the MLA under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian penal code, basing on a complaint filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector, said Denduluru Sub-Inspector of police, Kishore Babu. Prabhakar represents Denduluru constituency.
It is reported that the MLA went to Singavaram junction, where the police were diverting heavy vehicular traffic due to a village fair.
In this context, the MLA who not only questioned it but also abused an ASI and other constables on duty. He also assaulted one of them. The ASI filed a written complaint and accordingly a criminal case was registered against the lawmaker. However, he was not arrested yet, police said.
The MLA has a history of similar behaviour, he landed himself in a mess when he allegedly manhandled a woman Tehsildar who tried to prevent illegal sand mining.
While Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu guarded his MLA, he found fault with the woman official.
