Hyderabad, December 24 : Telangana Minister for Commercial Taxes and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday said a special task force system would be in place to check tax evaders, offer one-time settlement for cases pending in courts besides regularizing the existing tax system. Businessmen and rich class will not be harassed with regard to tax collection as they can pay online, he said, adding that a balance of taxes will be maintained on par with other States.
Addressing the media after taking charge at his Chambers in Secretariat here, Srinivas Yadav said the government would promote small cinemas and those with a motto for social cause. Vigilance wing will be strengthened besides offering a reward of Rs 50,000 to informers on tax evaders, he said, adding that regular awareness meetings will be conducted for businessmen and consumers and will also erect hoardings for publicity.
“We will offer corrupt-free governance and transparency to achieve its target of Rs 27,777 crore for the period from June 2014 to March 2015. The government has achieved 90 per cent of given targets from June 2014 and November 2014 and the collections pegged at Rs 14,008 crore as against Rs 15,575 crore so far. The Turnover Tax payers will be brought under VAT regime and efforts will be made to bring back Rs 5,605 crore to Telangana State – a 41.68 per cent of CST compensation of Rs 13,447 crore till June 2014, he said. Stating that there was a reduction in monthly income by Rs 20 crore, Yadav said focus will be on increasing collections, entertainment and professional taxes. He also said Greyhounds Canteen was exempted from paying tax. A five-member official team was constituted to look into way-bills, C Forms and others. He said the focus is on vigilance, online tracking system to check evaders and a hassle-free regime of online tax returns.
