Task force on Bayyaram Steel Plant: KCR
HYDERABAD: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called on Union Minister for Mines Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi on Friday and to urge the Centre to establish a steel plant at Bayyaram in Khamman district.
The Chief Minister, who is on a five-day tour of Delhi, called on the Union Minister at Udyog Bhavan as part of his efforts to prevail upon the Central Government to extend financial assistance to the fledgling State.
He told media persons that Mr. Tomar promised to set up a task force of Centre and State for studying the feasibility of setting up the steel factory. The Centre would take a decision within two months of the submission of the report by the task force. KCR said the state government would provide all facilities including subsidies for establishing the steel plant.
KCR later met Union Environment Minister Prakash Jawadekar and sought his cooperation for according national status to Pranahitha Chevella project. He apprised Mr. Jawadekar abut the Harithahaaram project taken up by the Telangana Government for planting 230 crore saplings besides seking clearances and funds for Devadula, Nettempadu and other projects.
The Chief Minister also called on Chief Election Commissioner H. S. Brahma and appealed him to take steps on delimitation of Assembly constituencies. Explaining that the each parliamentary segment in Telangana can get two more Assembly seats, KCR urged the CEC to take steps for the same. The number of assembly seats will increase to 154 from the existing 119. (NSS)
