Table Cash For Vote Video Footage Too, Opposition Demands In AP Assembly
Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly had witnessed a verbal exchange between the ruling party and the Opposition on Friday. The ruling party members insisted on action against Sakshi media owned by Leader of Opposition Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy alleging that the media had distorted the facts related to a statement of Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.
When the House was adjourned due to commotion, YSR Congress legislator R K Roja took strong exception to the Assembly Speaker and the ruling party screening video footage of the Speaker’s statement in February. She alleged that the Speaker and the ruling party have decided to suppress the Opposition. She wondered why the Speaker had allowed the screening of the two months old video footage in the Assembly. She wanted to know why the ruling party leaders were not accepting the demand for screening of the video footage of Cash for Vote case and the complete video footage of the Assembly proceedings based on which she was suspended from the House for one year.
She said that the Cash for Vote case had brought down the image of the State and the video footage was widely published both in the mainstream media and social media. She wanted the ruling party leaders to screen the video footage and prove it was morphed.
Another YSR Congress legislator Srikanth Reddy said that the image of the Chief Minister was lowered with the Cash for Vote. Stating that the ruling party and the Chief Minister were denying their role in the case, he wanted the ruling party to screen the video footage and allow the members to prove or disprove the case on the Floor of the House.
