Both Superstars Attend DMK Event; One On Dais, Other In Audience
Chennai: Amidst speculations of superstars’ entry into politics, both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth attended a DMK event on Thursday.
While actor Kamal Haasan, 62, shared the dais with DMK leaders on the occasion of 75 years of the party mouthpiece, “Murasoli,” Rajinikanth chose to be a spectator. Kamal Haasan is expected to speak at the event.
While Rajinikanth is mulling over launching his own party amidst criticism about his nativity, Kamal Haasan has of late taken to criticism of ruling party AIADMK, expressing his interest in politics and paving way for speculations about his entry into politics.
Meanwhile, people are recalling the statement made by Rajinikanth in 1996, “Even God can’t save Tamil Nadu if Jayalalithaa comes back to power again,” and asking people to support DMK government, though he later described his statement as a mistake.
Rajinikanth is not expected to speak at the event, which is being described as a show of strength by the DMK, as the local body elections in the state are fast approaching and preparations for the next assembly polls.
One has to wait and watch to read what the strategy of DMK is, as both the warring factions of AIADMK are inching towards a merger and strengthen themselves with the help of the BJP at the centre.
