Superstar Rajnikanth Cancels Sri Lanka Visit. And The Reason Is…..
Chennai: Sri Lankan Tamils were affected by the civil war in regions of Vavuniya district, Northern provenance of Sri Lanka. Many of the displaced are homeless and as a helping hand, Gnanam Foundation came forward to donate 150 homes to these Tamilians in Srilanka.
With a cost of 22 crores, Gnanam foundation constructed the homes and approached Rajnikanth to grace the event as Chief Guest. Rajni gave a green signal as per Raju Mahalingam, Manager of Lyca Productions, which is now producing Shankar’s 2.0.
Gnanam Foundation of Jaffna is organising this programme as a two-day event and Rajnikanth will be in Sri Lanka on April 9th and 10th. Superstar will officially handover the keys to Tamilians. Rajini’s trip to Sri Lanka has been cancelled due to pressure from local Tamil groups. Colombo is taking advantage that it is helping Tamilians and not the Gnanam foundation, say the Tamil groups.
“All political parties have asked me to cancel the trip.Though i don’t agree with their stand, I have decided to call off my Lanka visit,” Super Star said on Saturday to media.
He further said that he is not a politician and he is only an artist. “Please don’t politicise the issue and stop my visit. Should I not get an opportunity to visit Lanka again?” he questioned politicians. With the above statement, he clearly once again indicated that he is far from politics.
