Student lands in jail in fatal hit-and-run case
Hyderabad: In a hit-and-run fatal road accident, the Raidurgam police have arrested one Guttikonda Prashanth Kumar, an M Tech student of Kukapally JNTU, for causing death of a pedestrian at a temple and lodged him in Cherlapally Central Prison after producing him before the XXIII M.M Court at Rajendranagar, Cyberabad.
According to Raidurgam CI Durga Prasad, Prashanth Kumar, 24, driving a Ford Figo car (No AP 10BC 6768) hit a 72-year-old ex-Army man Vagolu Devadanam at Khajaguda on the morning of December 10 and sped away.
The CI said responding to a 100 dial call, two constables on patrolling duty rushed to the accident spot near Maatha Temple on the road leading from Gachibowli to Mehdipatnam and found a man lying on the road with bleeding injuries. Immediately, they called 108 Ambulance and shifted the injured to Care Hospital, Gachibowli. The duty doctors declared him brought dead.
According to the CI, on December 9 evening, the accused left in his Ford Figo car and called his friend Sai Gowri. They went to Prost Brew Pub, Jubilee Hills, where another friend Prachi joined them and had drinks till the pub was closed. At midnight they went to another pub Hylife in Jubilee Hills and continued their drinking spree till 2 am.
Later, according to the police, they went to Hillview Apartments at ISB Road and spent time till 0500 hours on December 10. While going from Gachibowli in his car, the accused hit the retired army man who was crossing the road near a small temple. Prashanth Kumar was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
