Srilanka won against India comfortably at the ICC Champions Trophy, reaching the target of 322 runs set by India in just 48.4 overs with three wickets down.

Srilankan batsmen Kusal Mendis 89(93), Danushka Guna 76(72), and skipper Angelo Mathews 52(45) have played a decent innings, taking the team toward the victory.

“It is a must-win game for all of us in the group,” said Angelo Mathews. “We came into the game and not many people expecting us to win and took a great pressure off of us.”

When asked what was the turning point of the game, the Srilankan skipper said that it was the opening partnership. He said they had set the platform for the middle order batsmen.

The bowlers have bowled well, but certainly not up to the mark. None of them could take a wicket except for Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“They really played very well,” said Indian skipper Virat Kohli. “You can’t take any team lightly, and we don’t take any team lightly.”

Kohli said that the game is going to be competitive through out the tournament and that they don’t expect anything less.

India is scheduled to play with South Africa on Sunday, Jun 11, and that game is going to be crucial for India.
