Special GHMC campaign in February on garbage segregation
Hyderabad: The GHMC has decided to observe entire February month as ”Chatta Vidakula Roju (garbage divorce day)” from February 1st to create awareness among citizens to segregate wet and dry (waste) garbage.
The entire staff will be working on this concept this month by involving citizens to create more awareness about 100 per cent segregation, said B. Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC.
This concept will be propagated in all circle areas. Directions have been given to all zonal commissioners, deputy commissioners to conduct awareness campaigns on segregation at households to reach the target, he said. AMOHs have also been directed to take up the responsibility to ensure the segregation process from households to transfer station and instructions have also been given to provide separate dress to drivers of auto trolleys by sponsorship as being done at Rajendra Nagar Circle.
The GHMC has around 20 transfer stations out of which 9 have reached 100 per cent segregation process, Rajendranagar Circle 6.
There are nine Swacch Auto Tippers (SAT) which recorded 100 per cent segregated garbage in different circle: Rajendranagar Transfer Station (Circle No.6), Devendar Nagar (No.2), Mallapur (No.1), Deepti Sri Nagar (No.12), Saradar Patel Nagar (No.17), Neredmet (No.17), Machchabollarum (No.16), Saket (No.1) and HMT Pipe Line Road (No.15).
Seventy-five per cent of the segregation is taking place in 11 transfer stations:
Amberpet STP Transfer Station, (Circle No.9B); Imlibun (Nos.4A, 4B, 4C, 5A, 5B & 8); Yousufguda (Nos.10 A & 10B); Nallagandla (No.11); Tank-bund Transfer Station, (Nos.9A, 9B & 18) ; Nagole, (Nos.3A, 3B & 3C); Khaitlapur (Circle Nos.14A & 14B); Jiyaguda (Nos.7A & 7B); Novopan, Compound Wall Patancheru, (No.13); Moula Ali (No.17); RC Puram Railway Track, Opp. ICRISAT, (Circle No.13)
Though segregation is taking place at households, it has been observed that function halls, business establishments, hostels have not been segregating. The entire February month the GHMC will concentrate on this issue. -NSS
