Six Dead and 20 Injured in Terrorist Attacks in London
London: At least six people dead and 30 injured in two connected terrorist attacks in London at around 10 pm local time. The attacks started at the London Bridge and ended at a restaurant near Borough Market. Three assailants conducted these attacks, and they are reportedly killed.
Police believe that these three terrorists mowed their van into pedestrians at the London Bridge and drove to the Borough Market and entered a restaurant nearby and stabbed several people, including a policeman on duty. The terrorists, as per reports, were wearing suicide jackets and witnesses say that the terrorists would have caused even more damage, had the police not acted at the right time and shot and killed the assailants.
Pictures are circulating in the media showing two assailants on the ground with something attached to their stomachs possibly suicide vests.
There were three terrorist attacks in England in the past three months. The recent one was at Manchester, where a suicide bomb exploded killing 22 people at Ariana Grande concert.
England’s Prime Minister Theresa May described the attacks as “dreadful events,” and would soon be attending Cobra emergency meeting to discuss the situation with intelligence and security chiefs.
The United States President Donald Trump spoke with Theresa May and offered condolences and full support. He also reportedly praised the England’s police.
After the Ariana Grande attack the country’s threat level was raised to “critical” and then eventually brought down to “severe,” before this attack took place.
