Visakhapatnam: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted for investigation into the recent land scam in Visakhapatnam, took Majji Sankara Rao, the suspended tahasildar, into custody on Wednesday for questioning. Sankara Rao had been on remand since June second week.
The SIT was said to have written to the political parties seeking information from them about the instances where land records were tampered with. The SIT was learnt to have already sent letters to Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ch. Ayyannapatrudu and YSR Congress leader G.Amarnath.
It set July 20 as the deadline for receiving complaints from political parties. However, the last date for receiving complaints from the public has been advanced to July 15. Following an invitation to political parties, the SIT is expected to receive a few more complaints before the deadline.

On the other hand, YSR Congress Chief Jagan trained his guns against TDP Ministers including Lokesh in ‘ Save Visakha’ protest on June 22 accusing them of land grabbing.
