Siddaiah honoured with State Funeral
HYDERABAD: The mortal remains of slain Sub-Inspector Siddaiah were put to rest amidst official honors at Jadcherla town in Mahbubnagar district this afternoon, with a large number of people, police personnel, a couple of ministers, MLAs and leaders of all political parties turning up to pay their last respects.
Police fired three rounds into the air as part of final rites at Old Bazaar crematorium in the town on behalf of the State government. The situation turned emotional when Dharani, wife of Siddaiah, came to see him off at their house. Relatives could not control their emotion when she wept inconsolably. The final rites of the cop were performed as per Muslim tradition as Siddaiah belongs to Dudekula community.
Ministers such as Jupally Krishna Rao, Lakshma Reddy and DGP Anurag Sharma, others paid their last respects to the departed soul as the town, which gripped in panic, echoed with slogans “Siddaiah Amar Hai”. Besidesthe leaders of political parties, many local people, relatives and friends turned up in large numbers from Kurnool to pay him their last respects.
It may be noted that after a heroic gun battle with SIMI activists at Janakipuram, a few days ago, Siddaiah breathed his last on Tuesday at Kamineni Hospital leaving his family and police department behind in distress.
In a related development, doctors at Rainbow Hospital conducted a surgery for heart problem of the male baby of Siddaiah and Dharani. The Rainbow hospital doctors announced that the infant is out of danger as the heart problem was fixed effectively besides separating channels of food and air in its body.
The State government has announced ex gratia to the bereaved family of Siddaiah and that of other cops who had sacrificed their lives during Janakipuram encounter, followed by Suryapet firing incident that rattled the State. (NSS)
