Sharad Yadav With Mahagathbandhan, Says Lalu

It is known that the senior JD (U) leader is unhappy with Nitish Kumar over forming government with BJP’s help.

Patna: “Sharad Yadav {senior Janata Dal (United) leader} is continuing to extend support to Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance)”, claimed Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday.

The senior JD (U) leader is one of the founding members of Janata Dal (United). It is known that Sharad Yadav is dissatisfied with Nitish Kumar for throwing in his lot with the BJP and re-forming his government with the saffron party’s support.

Lalu’s claim that Sharad Yadav is in touch over phone and has assured support to Mahagathbandhan only strengthens Sharad Yadav’s known dissatisfaction with Nitish Kumar’s decision.

It may be recalled that Nitish Kumar resigned because he could not be seen as being condescending after an FIR was filed against his then Deputy Chief Minister and Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav in land-for-hotels case. The JD (U) chief allied with BJP and formed his government within hours of his resignation and also won the trust vote in the Assembly the next day.

A few JD (U) members are still dissatisfied with Nitish’s decision to go with BJP. Sharad Yadav, though was not very vocal against Nitish, has met Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi after Nitish announced his new alliance.

However, Nitish Kumar had always been clear with Opposition parties that he will not be supporting them. In fact, he was absent from the two meetings of Opposition parties that Congress had arranged in the context of Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections. It was Sharad Yadav who attended these meetings and assured that his party would support the fight against BJP.
