Seven held in currency notes swap heist
Hyderabad: In joint operation, the Bahadurpura police and task force team, have arrested seven members of an eight-member gang and recovered new currency notes worth several lakhs of rupees, three motor bikes and eight cell phones from their possession.
According to V Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone, the gangsters belonging to the city, on December 5, lured one Divesh Agarwal of Malakpet, having lakhs of rupees in denomination of Rs 100 and new currency notes of Rs 2000 for exchange of old currency notes on 25% commission basis. Attracted by the offer, the victim agreed and brought an amount of Rs 58 lakh of new currency notes of Rs 2000 and Rs 100 currency notes on the intervening night of December 4 and 5 at about 02.30 am. As pre-planned, the gang members beat up the complainant and snatched his cash bags containing huge money and fled.
On receipt of a complaint, police took the robbery as a challenge and started a hunt for the dacoits. On a tip-off, the Bahadurpura Police and Task Force personnel raided Lucky Bar & Restaurant of suspect A. Manohar Yadav alias Sudhakar Yadav at HB Colony on the intervening night of December 7 and 8 and apprehended the accused and seized the booty from their possession.
The police recovered the money from K. Arun Kumar Mudiraj, A. Saishankar alias Sai, A. Manohar Yadav alias Sudhakar Yadav, B. Suresh, H. Sai Raj alias Sai, S. Naveen Yadav alias Naveen, G. Srikanth. However, another accused, Monu Singh, is absconding. -NSS
