AP EAMCET on May 10

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government here on Wednesday took a decision to conduct its own EAMCET-2015 on May 10.

Speaking to mediapersons at Visakhapatnam, AP Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the State government has decided to conduct the EAMCET examination on its own. About 1.65 lakh students would take the examination, he said and added that JNTUC at Kakinada had been authorized to conduct the examination. About 1.16 lakh seats would available be in the convener quota, he added.

Criticizing the Telangana Government for defying provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act relating to a common entrance examination, he said this had forced the Andhra Pradesh Government to announce a separate EAMCET 2015 on May 10. He also announced that ECET would be conducted on May 14, ICET on May 16, PG ECET on May 25, EDCET on May 28 and Law CET – PG CET on May 30.

As the two States will be conducting the entrance examinations separately, for the first time the students seeking admission into engineering, agriculture and medical colleges have to appear for two separate tests. While JNTU-Hyderabad will continue to hold the exam in Telangana State, JNTU-Kakinada will conduct it in Andhra Pradesh. (NSS)
