SCR gives top priority to safety
Hyderabad: Sending a strong message to all the Divisional Railway Managers and Principal Heads of Departments that safety is the top most priority for rail operations, Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway, called upon them to imbibe a zero tolerance policy for any lapse on this issue.
He was addressing a video conference of Railway Managers of all six divisions –Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded — from Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, on Monday. Principal Heads of Departments were also present at the conference.
Besides safety, the other core areas of priority are punctuality, earnings, project execution, public grievances and staff welfare, Vinod Kumar emphasized. Stressing the importance of track maintenance for safety, he advised the officials to intensify checks and inspections.
The General Manager wanted the engineering departments to achieve the targets set for this year in terms of execution of projects, without any scope for delay. He instructed all the departments to work in co-ordination to attain positive results. The General Manager wanted proper utilization of assets and also encouraged officials to come out with innovations towards bettering performance results. He also advised everyone on the need to monitor public grievances on real time basis, as the social media has come to the fore.
At a meeting held on Tuesday on safety, the General Manager took stock of SCR’s performance and suggested various measures towards attaining an accident free record. – NSS
