The OPS faction welcoming the removal of Sasikala’s banners from AIADMK headquarters said that this step would facilitate merger faster.

Chennai: As the posters of VK Sasikala were torn down by party workers at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai on Wednesday, the O Panneerselvam (OPS) faction welcomed the step. As the news of the arrest of Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran on Tuesday midnight trickled, party workers tore down the life- size banners of Sasikala early in the morning. After bringing down the banners, they reinstalled the posters of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

This development appears to be facilitating the two warring factions in AIADMK to come together. Responding to questions posed by media after the incident, Panneerselvam camp leader KP Muniswamy expressing happiness over the incident added that this incident would help OPS camp to begin talks with E Palanisamy camp fro merger.

The AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) led by Pannerselvam has been demanding the removal of Sasikala banners from the party office before the talks begin. One of the conditions OPS camp has put before EPS camp for the merger is ousting of Sasikala and her nephew from the party which the latter conceded. However, action over another demand of probing into Jayalalithaa’s death has not been assured.

AIADMK (Amma) faction deputy general secretary Dinakaran and his aide Mallikarjuna were arrested by Delhi Police in cash for symbol scandal in the midnight Of Tuesday-Wednesday.
