Sania Mirza denies Tax evasion

Hyderabad: Sania Mirza, who was summoned by Principal Commissioner of Tax on Feb 6th denied about the tax evasion.  Sonia, who is in abroad said that 1cr given to her by Telangana Government was a Training Incentive but not towards becoming state’s Brand Ambassador.

On behalf of Sania her Charted Accountant appeared before Service Tax Authorities and submitted necessary documents on Wednesday. Future course of action will be pursued once documents are studied by authorities.

Telangana Government in 2014 announced Sania as State Ambassador and gave her a cheque of 1cr for preparation of major tournaments. This amount comes under tax purview which includes 14.5% service tax.

Having failed to pay service tax, IT department summoned Sania to appear before Principal Commissioner of Tax.
