Sandra Venkata Veeraiah too granted bail in cash-for-vote case
HYDERABAD: Another accused in the cash-for-vote scandal and Sattupally TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah too was granted bail by the ACB Special Court on Tuesday.
Venkata Veeraiah, who was named Accused No 5, is the second TDP MLA to be implicated in the infamous scandal for trying to lure nominated Anglo- Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson with cash for voting in favour of the TDP nominee in the June 2 MLC elections. Other TDP MLA A.Revanth Reddy was named as the principal accused in the scam in which two others were also arrested and later released on bail.
The Sattupally MLA was served notices by the ACB for interrogation in connection with the case. However, the investigating authorities later changed the penal section and arrested him where upon the accused moved a bail petition in the Special Judge’s court.
The ACB Special Court granted Veeraiah bail on a personal bond of Rs Two lakh. He was also asked to surrender his passport and was also directed to confine himself within his constituency of Sattupally in Khammam district. Thus while four of the five accused in the case, who were arrested, have managed to secure bail, another accused managed to secure a stay on his arrest. (NSS)
