Samsung Chairman, Lee Kun-hee no more

  • He strove to make Samsung a global Tech power
  • Twice acquitted of white-collar crimes
  • He used to say ‘change everything in life, except your wife and children

South Korea’s richest man, Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee died Saturday night  in Seoul at the age of 78. Cause of death was not revealed by doctors or his family members immediately, but he is under treatment for heart illness since 2014.

Lee took the command of the company after his father Lee Byung-Chell passed away. He made the company to grow to global level by manufacturing cheap Television sets, chips, mobiles, microwaves, washing machines and different electronic equipments. He made Samsung Company as one of the key pillars of South Korea’s economy.

Samsung officially released a statement which reads “Chairman Lee was a true visionary who transformed Samsung into the world leading innovator and Industrial powerhouse from a local business”.

Lee Kun-hee became controversial after he tried to bribe President Roh-Tae Woo and tried for Tax evasion. He was acquitted from these two cases after Lee admitted to his crime. Lee was born on Jan 9, 1942, at Daegu. He was famous for his words used in all lectures” Change everything in your life, except wife and children”. His son Jay Y Lee who is vice president of the company will be new chairman for Samsung Company from now on wards.
