Sahitya Bharati and Paul Harris Rotary awards for Yarlagadda
Chicago: The Bharati Teertha Association, Chicago, has given Sahitya Bharati award to Padmabhushan awardee Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad. Supreme Court of India Justice Jasti Chalameswar was the Chief Guest at the recently held event, jointly organized by Bharati Teertha and Swapna. Yarlagadda received the honour from Dr Tatha Prakasam, the founder of Bharati Teertha and Swapna.
In another honour, the Naperville City Rotary Club representative Neena Menis has honoured Yarlagadda with the “Paul Harris Award” in recognition of his relentless effort to develop and spread Hindi and Telugu and for his academic achievements. He is a double doctorate in Telugu and Hindi and has authored 64 books.
Speaking at the function, Yarlagadda elucidated the significance of the Telugu language and its literature, culture and music. Dr Sonthi Saradapoorna, members of Chicago Telugu Association, Greater Chicago Telugu Association, America Telugu Association, Telugu Association of North America (TANA), Manabadi, Chicago Hindu Temple, Naperville Rotary Club, Naperville City Council and others participated in the programme.
