RTC Takes Strict Actions Against Striking Workers
- Removed the exemption of membership amount
- Took away special facilities
HYDERABAD: The APSRTC management has decided to initiate action against the RTC workers, who were not caring appeals of the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his Cabinet colleagues on withdrawal the strike, under the rule of violation of discipline.
As part of the action plan, the RTC management announced scrapping off special facilities enjoyed by the recognized RTC workers unions. It has revealed that it abolished the special facilities – Employees Union (EU), Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU), National Mazdoor Union (NMU) and TNU at State, Zonal, District and Depot level.
The management also said it was removing the facility of exemption of membership amount from workers’ salaries. The RTC MD issued orders in this regard asking the officials to implement the decisions with immediate effect. The management further declared that it was abolishing the facility provided to the Union leaders only to confine to Union activities staying away from their duties. It also found fault with the employees, who were obstructing buses.
On the other hand, Employees Union (EU) State president Chandrashekar Reddy announced that he was ready for discussions with the management and with the Cabinet Sub-Committee. It is learnt that the management may take tough decisions against the workers as the strike has entered the third day.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said the workers were ready to resume duties if the management agrees to solve at least a few problems of the workers.
In Tirupati, TTD Chairman Chadalavada Krishnamurthy held a meeting with the RTC Unions. Chadalavada urged the Unions’ representatives to exempt the Tirupati route buses across the state, keeping the summer rush in view. The Union leaders said they would announce their decision after discussing with the Union leaders. (NSS)
