RTC employees Strike from 16

HYDERABAD: Seeking a speedy decision on their demand of hike in salaries on par with state Government employees in the two states who are entitled to get 43 per cent fitment, APRTC employees today warned of taking up strike from April 16, if the management failed to take a decision by 15.
The RTC employees forwarded a notice in this regard to APSRTC Managing Director giving him two weeks time on salary hike. The employees will be forced to go on a strike from April 16 if the management failed to take a decision by 15, the employees warned. Keeping in view the 43 per cent fitment offered by the Telangana Government which was also replicated by the AP Government, the RTC employees are demanding a similar hike in their salaries. Also the staff demands immediate bifurcation of the RTC assets, officials and staff.
In the wake of the RTC buses going off the roads for the salary hike on Thursday causing a lot of problem for daily commuters through RTC buses, the employees demanded that the management take a decision in two weeks time. ‘Otherwise, we will be compelled to take to the streets’ they warned.
Sudden strike affects students, employees
The RTC buses went off the roads abruptly on Thursday creating great difficulty for the common man. SSC students who have to appear for the examinations, employees and the teachers suffered a lot. Thousands of commuters were stranded due to lack of bus services.
Taking advantage of the situation, auto-drivers and private vehicle operators have jacked up their fares. At 11 AM, the RTC drivers took out a rally to the RTC Bus Bhavan at RTC Cross Roads. (NSS)
