RK mystery continues; AP ministers cautioned
- Telangana police doubt ‘safe’ version
Visakhapatnam: All kinds of rumours are making rounds creating confusion about the safety and whereabouts of the top Maoist leaders Ramakrishna (RK) and Uday (Ganesh). Police sources in Telangana State suggested that both the leaders were killed on the same day when Andhra Pradesh Greyhounds and Odisha Special Operation Group attacked the camp and killed most of the people present there. The sources also said that the AP police have been advising ministers and MLAs not to travel without prior intimation and to cut down on visits to rural areas for some weeks.
The AP police sources, on the other hand, say that both the leaders are safe in police custody and the top officers would discuss with the political executive to decide what to do with them. It is said that the matter is hanging fire and a series of discussions are going on between Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, DGP N Sambasiva Rao and Vizag rural SP Rahul Dev Varma.
It is alleged that the police had planted some audios to confuse the rights activists. Varavara Rao, who visited Malkangiri forest area where the ‘encounter’ took place, went back to Hyderabad with an impression that RK and Uday are in police captivity. He was told by the local people that both the leaders were whisked away to some undisclosed destination by helicopter.
