Revanth demands Rs 6 lakh ex gratia to kin of deceased farmers
Hyderabad: Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy has demanded the State government to pay Rs 6 lakh compensation to all farmers, who have committed suicides since 2014.
Speaking at the Assembly media point on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy, along with Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, alleged that the TRS Government has been showing less figures on suicide incidents by farmers in the State, but the National Crime Research Bureauas latest report has stated that Telangana was second in farmer suicides in the country with 898 in 2014 and 1358 during 2015. Quoting the NCRB report that 2,256 farmers have committed suicide since 2014, the TDP leader demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister, who always criticized the opposition parties for showing factual figures before the government about the farmersa suicides.
Revanth Reddy along with Sandra turned up in the Assembly wearing black shawls. They said the party had moved an adjournment motion in the Assembly on farmersa suicides. The State government should come forward to mitigate the problems of farmers as agricultural sector was already in crisis, he said.
Revanth Reddy also alleged that the opposition members were not getting opportunity and proper time to express their views in the House. He said even ministers were not giving replies relating to their departments because the Assembly has become a a?three men showa?. He pointed out that only Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his minister son K Taraka Rama Rao and nephew Tanneer Harish Rao have been giving replies on even other departments. -NSS
