Rebellion in Goa RSS: 400 members resigned
PANAJI: Over 400 RSS activists have resigned late on Wednesday from the organisation in protest against the unceremonious sacking of the state RSS chief Subhash Velingkar.
The mass resignations followed a 6 hour long meeting held at a private school complex near Panaji, which includes over 100 local RSS members and office bearers who have accused RSS and BJP senior leadership including Manohar Parrikar, who is also the Defence Minister, for conspiring against the RSS state chief Mr Velingkar.
“All office bearers from the district units, sub -district units and all local shakhas have decided to quit from the RSS, until Velingkarji is reinstated. We will not work for RSS until the decision to strip him as Goa Vibhag Sangh Chalak is revoked,” says, Ramdas Saraf, south district pramukh of the organisation.
On Monday, Mr Velingkar had cautioned that BJP may lose the upcoming assembly elections, because of the the governments in Goa under Laxmikant Parsekar and Manohar Parrikar are accused of “cheating” people on the issue of medium of instruction policy, which he claims to promote English over other regional languages like Marathi and Konkani. He also participated in a protest which showed black flags to the BJP President Amit Shah during his visit to the state on 20th August 2016.
Mr Velingkar also threatened to mentor another political party, to ensure the defeat of BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
