RBI Employees Deplore Government Attitude
Mumbai: RBI Employees Union had sent a scathing letter to Governor Urjit Patel raising concerns over the finance ministry’s alleged intervention in its functioning.
The letter was written after media reports suggested that government was sending an official to RBI to co-ordinate central bank’s currency chest operations.
This letter from RBI employee union puts the Govt not only in poor light but also undermines global confidence in Indian Financial System.
Govt has made RBI a joke and destroyed it’s credibility forever, alleged the union. The leaders of the union found fault with the government for bringing pressure on the Governor to toe its line and agree to recommend demonetization measures.
RBI Governor did not comment on the controversial decision for twenty days. He recently revealed that the RBI had recommended demonetization at the behest of Modi government. This attitude was criticised by former RBI Governors like YV Reddy.
