IT Raids Eagleton Resort In Bengaluru, Where Cong MLAs Are Housed
Bengaluru: Breaking a bad news to Congress on Wednesday morning, the Income Tax Department conducted raids on properties of Karnataka’s Power Minister DK Shiva Kumar, and seized a cash of about 7.5 crores.
Shiva Kumar was in-charge of hospitality for the 44 Congress MLAs from Gujarat who were housed in a resort in Bengaluru.
The IT department raided the same resort, the Eagleton Resort, at around 7 am in the morning on Wednesday. Along with the houses of DK Suresh, MLC C Ravi’s residences were also raided. One of them is a relative of DK Shiv Kumar and was in-charge of food for MLAs staying in the resort.
As there were rumors that MLAs in the resort were paid in crores, the IT department has set its eyes on the resort. During the raids, the department has looked for cash flow and if money was paid to put these MLAs in a camp by Karnataka Congress unit.
It may be recalled that the Congress party took the step of confining its MLAs from Gujarat in a bid to prevent them from quitting the party. Already six of the MLAs resigned from the party and joined ruling BJP, while one of them was announced Rajya Sabha candidate by BJP.
The Congress Party, which has fielded Ahmad Patel, the political secretary of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, wants to ensure his win. But with party senior leader Sankarsinh Vaghela quitting the party and some of his followers following him, the Congress had come up with the idea of protecting its flock to ensure the win of Ahmad Patel.
Consequently, It has sent around 44 Congress MLAs to Bengaluru on Saturday to prevent them resigning from the party and joining BJP. All these MLAs were housed in Eagleton resort near Bengaluru and allegedly they were heavily paid.
