Indore: New Zealand were trailing by 529 runs in the first innings of the 3rd test at stumps on the second day of the five-day match. They made 28 runs without losing a wicket against India’s whopping total of 557/5 declared. When India declared its first innings closed, Rohit Sharma was on 51 and Ravindra Jadeja was on 17.
Earlier, Virat Kohli had continued his magnificent performance with the bat taking the overnight individual score to 211. Ajinkya Rahane, another batsman who is in form, had hit 188 runs before he was bowled by Trent Boult. Virat’s epic innings was ended Jeetan Patel, a bowler of Indian origin playing for New Zealand. Martin Guptil and Tom Latham, the opening pair of New Zealand team, were on 17 and 6 respectively at the close on the second day.
