Raghuveera Hits Naidu Hard at Swiss Challenge
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Congress President N Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday criticized the Swiss Challenge Scheme, approved by the AP government to build the new capital, Amaravati.
The AP government has recently cleared the proposals of Singapore Consortium to build the capital.
Raghuveera Reddy said that the Congress was not against the capital but was against the involvement of the foreign companies in its development. He felt that the government should have involved and engaged the local experts and companies to build our own capital.
He found fault with the government accepting for the 42:58 ratio revenue after giving the required land to the Singapore’s company. He also wondered why the government was spending more than Rs 5,000 crore to build the capital if the sharing of revenue is more in favour of the Singapore’s company.
The APCC leader said that the Congress would hold a meeting at Bhimavaram in the first week of June to press for the implementation of the Special Category Status. He further wanted the government to implement the status before increasing the number of Assembly seats. He said that the Congress MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would oppose the rise in Assembly seats in the state without implementing the Special Category Status.
Raghuveera Reddy said that the Congress would focus on the agitations and would contest the 2019 elections from all the 175 Assembly constituencies. The party held a series of meetings across the state to sensitize people on the pending issues and the failures of the state and the central governments.
