Raghuveera demands special status for AP
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy has demanded that the BJP government implement all promises made to the State in Parliament and those mentioned in President Pranab Mukharjee’s address to the joint session of Parliament.
Releasing a copy of his letter written to the Prime Minister, to the media here on Tuesday, Raghuveera Reddy urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate the promised funds in the Union and Railway budgets.
Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said the APCC has launched a “one crore signature campaign” demanding implementation of promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act. He also informed that the Congress also launched a “missed call” campaign through mobile number 78424 34121 for the same cause to increase pressure on the Centre.
He said the people were disappointed with the Centre’s inordinate delay in granting special status to the State and so on. He also added that within two days after launching the number some 30,000 missed calls were received. He said not even a single provision was implemented by the Union government so far since eight months. (NSS)
