Racing Champion Ashwin Sundar, Wife Burnt Alive In Car Accident
Chennai: Ashwin Sundar, an internationally reputed car racer, died on Saturday morning when his BMW car hit a tree and the car went up in flames. He was going out of the city for weekend along with wife Nivedita who also was burnt alive. The couple could not come out of the car when it caught fire. The polis reached the place within minutes but it was too late by then. The accident took place at Pattinampakkam in Santam high road.
Ashwin was born at Chennai on 27 July 1985. He became MRF Formula National Champion in 2003. He retained the championship the next year. He was MRF Formula 1600 International Challenge Champion in 2010 and 2011. He won the national championship again in 2012 and 2013.
Ashwin was working as Senior Production Engineer at Michelin. He studied at Symbiosis Institute of Management. His wife Nivedita was working as a physician at a Chennai hospital.
A video has been circulating in social media in which the car is seen in flames. The accident happened at 3.30 am, according to the police.
