PV Narasimha Rao Memorial in Delhi
HYDERABAD: The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has moved a proposal to construct a memorial for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao at Ekta Sthal Samadhi Complex, on the banks of Yamuna River in Delhi.
The decision is appreciable as PV Narasimha Rao was instrumental in introducing economic reforms in the country. He hails from Telangana State and many leaders from the state had in the past appealed to the erstwhile Congress Government to build a memorial for PV Narasimha Rao in the country’s capital.
The recent proposal by the TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu was taken into consideration by Prime Minister Modi, and TDP hailed the decision.
TDP Vice President E.Peddireddy, Politburo Member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy and Media Advisor Rajaram Yadav told reporters today that they welcome the proposal. Criticizing Congress party for not giving due respect to late P V Narasimha Rao, they said that the Congress party disowned the body of Rao and was flown to Hyderabad for funeral. The Congress had denied a memorial for PV in Delhi, they said.
The Telugu people are happy to know the respect being given to late PV Narasimha Rao, who was known as “Telugu Bidda”. TDP has not fielded any candidate against the late Rao when he contested from Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency in Kurnool district, they added. (NSS)
