Prove RK is in police custody, HC asks petitioner
Hyderabad: The hearing in the High Court on the habeas corpus petition filed by Padmakka was adjourned by ten days on Thursday at the behest of the petitioner.
The Hyderabad HC bench comprising Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice MSK Jaiswal asked the petitioner if she could produce evidence to show that Ramakrishna alias RK, the top Maoist leader, who went missing after the ‘encounter’ in the cut off area in Malkangiri district of Odisha on October 24, is in police custody. The petitioners asked for ten days time to produce evidence that RK is in police custody.
Earlier, Rahul Dev Varma, Visakha Rural SP, filed an affidavit saying that RK is not in police custody. Then the judges asked the petitioner if she could produce evidence to prove that the Maoist leader is in police captivity.
Varavara Rao, noted revolutionary poet, said that they are not asking the whereabouts of Chalapati since they are aware that he is not with the police. The petitioner did not mention the name of Uday although there are doubts about his safety. But the petitioner is particular about RK since she has information to the effect that the Maoist leader is under the custody of the police. Petitioner Padmakka is wife of RK and mother of young Maoists who was killed in the encounter, Munna alias Prudhvi.
