UP Poll Sweep Attracts Many Leaders Towards BJP: Lakshman
Hyderabad: State BJP president Dr K Lakshman on Saturday revealed that several leaders from other parties were in touch with his party after the Uttar Pradesh election results.
In an informal chat with mediapersons, he said his party would organise its foundation day celebrations from booth-level on April 6. He said BJP would conduct training classes on March 30. Opining that there was a political vacuum in Telangana, Lakshman alleged that benefits of Central schemes were not reaching the people wherever the BJP was not in power.
Making it clear that there won’t be any alliance with the TD and TRS in future and the party would contest the 2019 elections on its own, Lakshman said a decision would be finalised on selection of candidates. He also charged Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao with resorting to politics in the name of religion.
Responding to question, Lakshman said he hoped Swamy Paripoornananda would enter politics. There were no groups and differences in the State BJP. He claimed that BJP was the only party that was taking up programmes by appointing mandal and district committees.
Lakshman said his party would contest all elections, irrespective of win or loss. He said there was a need to increase the number of Assembly constituencies in both the Telugu States. (NSS)
