Policy on Retail Markets soon: KCR
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said his government will soon introduce a “Retail Market Policy” to promote expansion of markets on the standards of Single Industrial Policy. He said the retail markets should be expanded in such a way people residing at new colonies, apartments and residential complexes get all essential items at one place.
Earlier, a delegation of the Twin Cities Retail Market Association today called on the Chief Minister and sought his government’s support for expansion of retail markets. Responding to their appeal, the Chief Minister said a policy will be in place soon after calling a meeting of retail market managers, GHMC and other concerned officials. Stating that expansion of retail markets is part of development, KCR said the market mangers should adopt a perfect plan to expand.
Extending support to retail market owners for expansion, the CM asked them to provide weekly off to all employees working at retail markets besides providing security to women workers, who work during night shifts. KCR said steps will be taken to allot space for retail markets in new colonies, apartments and residential complexes. “We will extend support to expansion of Retial Markets and Malls located in Warangal and Karimnagar and to come up at Khammam, Ramagundam, Nizamabad and other towns.
Retail Market Association appealed to the Chief Minister to permit them to keep their shops open on all the 365 days in a year, extension of new malls based on old permission and night shifts for women workers. (NSS)
