PM’s move will open gates for manipulators of black money: CPI
New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (CPI) today described the dramatic announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about cessation of currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 as a ‘Surgical strike’ on black money. It also claimed that it would help in unearthing fake currency and funding of terrorism.
In a statement here today, the CPI central secretariat stated the Prime Minister’s decision would add to the hardships faced by the vast sections of people, particularly the traders, vendors and small wage earners.
It stated that to divert the attention from the real black money holders, the government has brought this scheme in a dramatised manner. The intention of the Centre on the issue could be to divert attention from the real problem of black money as it was not ready to share information made available through Panama leak and Swiss banks. “The announcement about withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes as legal tender has seen as part of the government’s practice of making dramatised announcements to divert the peoples’ attention from emerging controversies that put the Modi government in embarrassing position and exposes its fascistic trends. The present move is not going to help resolve the problems of parallel economy based on the black money. On the contrary, it will open gates for manipulators of black money to spread and regularise their dirty business”, it added.
