PM will launch Metro Rail project : Dattatreya
- 50 percent of the project completed
- Pillars stretch 43 km
HYDERABAD: Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya, today asked the Metro Rail authorities to expedite the project work and begin services immediately. Dattatreya, who inaugurated the Metro Rail project at Nagole depot for the first time, said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch the project upon completion.
He said that the project was his dream that began in 2001. The center has allotted 2,500 crore rupees for it, and the authorities should expedite the work.
Dattatreya interacted with Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy and had the glimpse of the rail and its attractive features. The rail is just ready to chug on the tracks.
He asked the state government to take the initiative, so that the metro rail will soon chug on to serve the people. The minister suggested that the government can settle the issues related to land acquisition for the metro-rail works.
“I hope a discussion with landowners and the management gives positive results,” he said. He also stated he would soon meet Chief Minister Chandraekhar Rao and discuss in detail on the issue. It is likely that the authorities are planning to launch the much-awaited project by next October.
Metro Rail in 2016: NVS Reddy
Speaking the occasion, NVS Reddy said that the local talent would be given priority to fill up jobs in Metro Rail project. He said that the rail would be launched next year as the first phase of launch was stalled due to technical reasons. Fifty percent of the workis completed so far, and the pillars are set up along the stretch of 43 kilometers, he said. (NSS)
