PM to open women parliamentarians’ meet

  • Three-day event to begin on February 10

Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the three-day women parliamentarians meet here on February 10, said AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

Speaking to media persons, Sivaprasada Rao said that arrangements are in full swing for the event in which Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and others would participate.

The Speaker said that he had already written to the leaders of all political parties seeking their cooperation for the event. The heads of educational institutions were also requested to support the event and send women students to participate in the programme. He said over 12,000 people are expected to participate in the three-day deliberations. The resolutions passed at the event would be released to the public as Amaravati Declaration, he added.

Sivaprasada Rao said that over 60 representatives from across the world have already confirmed their participation in the event. The three-day convention is aimed at contributing for the empowerment of women, he added.
