Pawan roars again

  • Lashes at BJP, Cong
  • Demands Special Status
  • To tour districts, address meetings

Tirupati: Pawan Kalyan (PK), President of Jana Sena, announced that he would wage a war for special status for Andhra Pradesh. He asked AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu if he is afraid of CBI probe if he demanded special status.

PK shouted at the top of his voice both in English and Hindi at the end of a meeting addressing the leaders of BJP and Congress Party. He asked the central leaders to understand the agony, anger and anguish of the people of AP.

PK told a large number of fans and party workers at Tirupati on Saturday that he would continue to act and simultaneously work in public life for the welfare of the people. He declared that he would address a huge public meeting at Kakinada on September 9. He reminded that it was at Kakinada that the BJP had decided to bifurcate the United AP. The BJP slogan some 15 years ago was ‘one vote, two States’.

PK said some people had described Jana Sena as a party that praises Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He challenged the BJP and the TDP to face the wrath of the people for denying them the special status. He made it clear that he did not launch the party to carry somebody’s agenda or some party’s flag. ‘I salute to the people and not to any one in power’ he declared. He told the gathering that he would not allow the BJP and the Congress to play with the lives of the people of AP. Taking a dig at the BJP, he said the party can work to protect the cows but it has to also look after the welfare of the human beings. He played to the gallery saying that he alone is not that powerful and he would be unbeatable only when the people join hands with him.

I will tour the districts and hold meetings in the first phase of his campaign.
While talking of religion, PK said he is a Hindu and his daughter is a Christian.
Is it Naidu’s trick?

The initial response of the political observers is that Chandrababu Naidu has planned to send PK to the people in order to contain the anti-incumbency sentiment that is on the rise. An opinion survey purported to have been conducted at the behest of Naidu recently indicated that anti-TDP sentiment is growing and the people are looking up to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP as an alternative. To stem that tide, Naidu reportedly suggested to Pawan Kalyan that the latter should do some thing to prevent Kapus from migrating to the YSRCP. There is another view that PK is trying to strengthen his party in view of the clear void. There is a feeling that although Naidu had been losing steam very fast Reddy is not gaining in strength proportionately. PK thought there is a scope for s third alternative. The BJP is stuck with Venkaiah Naidu who is not allowing Veerraju to be anointed as chief of AP BJP while Haribabu does not enjoy the faith of Kapu community. The Congress is recovering slowly thanks to the initiative of senior leader KVP Ramachandra Rao through the Private Member Bill in Rajya Sabha for special status.
