Pawan Kalyan-Steve Jarding meet sets Jana Sena for 2019 polls
Amaravati: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, who is currently on a tour to Boston had a two-hour meeting with the political think-tank Steve Jarding. The meeting, according to the Jana Sena sources, had set the tone for the 2019 elections in which the party is set to seek the first mandate.
Steve Jarding, a known and acknowledged political strategist, is currently, helping the Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh elections. His strategies are followed by Akhilesh in the selection of candidates, campaign and the issues to be presented during the campaign. The strategy also includes political counter to the criticism.
Jana Sena, which is gearing up to contest the 2019 elections had given enough indications of pulling out from the ruling Telugu Desam Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had the poll tie-up with the two parties in the 2014 elections. It was because of his support that the TDP had won the elections against the tough fight given by the Opposition YSR Congress.
Pawan Kalyan is now a disappointed ally of the BJP-TDP combine, particularly on granting Special Category Status to the State. He had blamed both the TDP and the BJP on going back on the promise. When the BJP promised 10 years of Special Category Status to the State during the campaign, the TDP had sought 15 years and Pawan Kalyan declared that he would stand guarantee for the promises. Now that the BJP had gone back and the TDP had compromised, Pawan Kalyan feels uncomfortable to stay on with the two parties as people are questioning him on the guarantee he had given.
Having decided to contest the 2019 elections, Pawan Kalyan’s meeting with Steve Jarding assumes significance. The long meeting was almost one-sided as Pawan Kalyan briefed the political analyst on his strategies and proposed another round of meeting in late 2018 or early 2019.
