PAN Cards Will Not Get Cancelled: IT Dept Assures People
New Delhi: Amidst fears that the PAN cards not linked to Aadhaar by July 1, might get cancelled, Income Tax Department on Friday assured people that they would not be cancelled. The Central government announced that linking of Aadhaar to PAN card is a must. Since the last day to link both happens to be Friday, people were worried.

In this context, CBDT Chairman Sushil Chandra announced, that the PAN cards not linked to Aadhaar by June 30 will not be cancelled. Until another notification is issued, PAN cards not linked to Aadhaar will be valid, he assured.
In the notification released recently, the government said that every person possessing PAN Card should link it to Aadhaar number under subsection (2) of Section 139 AA and inform the same to General of Income Tax- DGIT (Systems). It also stated that a lot of amendments were made in the rules of 114 of Income Tax Act. According to this, the CBDT said that it is a must to link PAN- Aadhaar for filing IT returns from July 1.
