Paladugu passes away

Hyderabad, January 19: Paladugu Venkata Rao, MLC, died on Monday morning at Apollo hospital here. He had cancer and has been undergoing treatment for a sometime. Paladugu, a former minister, was a different politician. He was a man of letters and maintained a good library at home. He was a friend of PV Narasimha Rao.
As though Paladugu had intuition of his death, he got a meeting organized at Vijayawada last week to release his latest book. The book was about political leaders who led selfless lives and rendered great service to the society. Persons whom he liked most were invited to the meeting held at Sidhardha college. KR Venugopal, IAS, Dr N Bhaskara Rao of Centre for Media Studies, New Delhi, Dr K Ramachandra Murthy, senior editor and editorial director of Sakshi Media Group, Justice Bhavani Prasad and many others were present in the meeting attended by hundreds of his admirers.
Paladugu who traveled to Vijayawada by ambulance, spoke for half an hour in the meeting, which was his last appearance. He came straight to Hyderabad from Vijayawada and was admitted in the ICU at Apollo hospital. He passed away at 6 am. He is survived by his wife.
His body was kept at the Old MLA Quarters from 10 am and then it will be shifted to Indira Bhavan, part of Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress party office.
