NTR biopic plan stirs controversy
- Lakshmi Parvathi demands ‘true facts’ depicted
Hyderabad: The announcement of film star Nandamuri Balakrishna that he would make a biopic on his father NT Rama Rao has triggered a controversy even before the proposal went to sets.
Balakrishna, son of legendary NTR and founder of Telugu Desam Party, had announced the other day that he was planning to a make a biopic on his father and that research was in progress with regard to its contents. Balakrishna is also the TDP legislator from Hindupur constituency.
Reacting to the proposed biopic, Lakshmi Parvathi, NTR’s widow (second wife), declared that she would move the court if the true facts regarding the life of NTR were not depicted. She would not allow any deviations of the true facts, she said.
Obviously trying to take pot shots against NTR’s son-in-law and AP Chief Minister Naru Chandrababu Naidu, Lakshmi Parvathi said that she would not allow him to be projected as a hero in the proposed biopic. Her insistence that the “true facts” should be brought out in the biopic, Lakshmi Parvathi undoubtedly wants the role played by Naidu in “dethroning” NTR to usurp power in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu has earned notoriety for hatching a bloodless coup to bring down his father-in-law from power to become the chief minister after NTR, in a surprise move, married Lakshmi Parvathi who became a power centre of sorts in Telugu Desam.
As a counter to Lakshmi Parvathi’s reaction, some TDP leaders including Bonda Uma remarked that she would be the villain in the biopic. –NSS
