Now, it is 31-district Telangana
Hyderabad: Telangana has created a history of sorts with the creation of 21 new districts on Vijayadasami day. With these additions, the state will have a total of 31 districts. While the reorganization of the earlier 10 districts into smaller ones will certainly help administer the state better, the exercise is going to put a massive financial burden on the government in terms of new buildings, staff and running various offices in all these districts. It’s not yet clear how the KCR government is going to meet the expenditure that runs into hundreds of crores a year.
However, the silver lining is the exercise would create a good number of new jobs in various departments in the coming years. But for now, the government is likely to face a huge staff shortage and how it is going to overcome it is not known.
