Non-NDA Presidential Candidate To Be Finalised At Opposition Dinner
New Delhi: The grand old party is trying hard to secure its identity as a national party. As Prine Minister Narendra Modi is gaining strength day by day and It is capturing State after State, all the opposition parties including the Congress are getting demoralised. In this context, in order to unite all the opposition parties Congress president Sonia Gandhi is hosting a dinner on Friday for all the opposition leaders. West Bengal and Bihar Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee and Nitish Kumar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and others will be attending the dinner which is arranged in the Parliament house.
The interesting part is that he Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal did not receive any invitation from Sonia. While Sonia and others are fighting unitedly against NDA in the Centre, not inviting Kejriwal who literally hates Modi is something strange. Meanwhile, sources say that as Kejriwal has not participated in any programme held by opposition parties against NDA government, he is not invited for the dinner.
According to Congress sources, the Presidential candidate of opposition will be finalised during this dinner meeting. The opposition parties are determined to field a unanimous candidate for the President post. By uniting the opposition parties and fielding a unanimous candidate they want to build up pressure on Modi. All the leaders who will be attending the dinner received a personal invitation. It is learnt that Sonia personally called many leaders including Communist leaders to attend the dinner.
Now, it is to be seen what will be the consequences of this dinner diplomacy and how it will impact.
