No irregularities in radiation machine purchase for MNJ Hospital: Minister
Hyderabad: Health Minister Laxma Reddy said the TRS government has appointed a high-level committee to look into the alleged irregularities at the MNJ Hospital immediately after coming to power.
Responding to a question by Congress members T Rammohan Reddy, Dr G Chinna Reddy and T Jeevan Reddy whether it was a fact that the MNJ Cancer Hospital authorities purchased a radiation machine worth Rs 22 crores and whether it was also a fact that permission was not obtained from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board for purchasing the radiation machine and if so the action taken in this regard, the Health Minister said a delay of one year took place in purchasing the machine due to internal politics in the hospital. Tenders were called in the year 2013 to purchase radiation machine but a single tender had come for it and consequently the hospital authorities ordered the machine a year later.
The committee in its report said no irregularities took place in purchasing the machine. The committee also revealed that the machine was a 2.5 updated version, the minister said. –NSS
