New York Explosion; 26 injured
New York: At least 26 people have been injured after an explosion took place on Saturday evening at 8:30 pm in the West 23rd St and 6th Avenue of Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The place is well known for the night life and the pubs where there would be a lot of people on the streets at the time of explosion. The reports say that the explosion came from a dumpster or a garbage can, but it has not been confirmed by the police.
Massive emergency response is taking place with ambulances rushing to the spot. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), 26 people are reported to the hospital. The streets are blocked and the people are being stopped from walking down through the area.
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said that there is no evidence of terror, at this point of time, linked to the explosion. The White house officials said that the president had been informed about the explosion while he was attending a congressional dinner in Washington.
