New terminal at Gannavaram airport takes off flying start
Amaravathi: New built terminal which was inaugurated in January started official operations from Monday. Until now Airport authorities did not give green signal for start of this terminal due to safety and security tests.
On Sunday night a true jet flight took off from this terminal as a trail run which was successful and full pledged operations began from Monday according to Airport Director Madhusudhan Rao. Airport can handle 500 passengers on arrival and departure which has 18 check in counters, six boarding gates, and 300 cars parking space. Total built up area of this new terminal is 12,642 sq.meters.
It will take another 3 years for Gannavaram airport to develop International and Domestic terminals as per Airport Director.
AP State government will run buses from Vijayawada to airport which will start in this week.
