New Low In UP Campaign
Lucknow: The political discourse in Uttar Pradesh has touched a new low on Sunday and Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the game of polarisation and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati continued it.
Speaking at an election rally at Fatehpur on Sunday, Modi said, ” If a village gets a graveyard, it should get cremation ground too. If there is electricity during Ramzan, there should be electricity during Diwali too. If there is electricity during Holi, there should be electricity during Eid too. There should not be any discrimination.” He went on to add,” Discrimination is the root of injustice. Dalits say they are not getting their rights, OBCs are getting everything. OBCs say the government only gives to Yadav. Yadavs say only those associated with the ‘family’ are getting their rights, and the rest goes to Muslims. This discrimination cannot continue. Regardless of who gave birth to you, everyone should get their rights. That is ‘Sabka saath sabka Vikas.’
Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) was described by Modi as ‘Behenji Ki Sampathi Party. Mayawati, the Behenji and chief of the BSP, speaking at an election meeting in Bundelkhand on Monday, retorted saying that Modi is anti- Dalit.
Akhilesh Yadav said at an election meeting at Milkipur indirectly asked super star Amitabh Bachchan not to serve Gujarati donkeys. Akhilesh introduced to the audience a tourism advertisement for the PM’s home State of Gujarat that promotes its wild ass. The State, he said, is gifted at presenting this donkey as exceptional. It does not bathe for a week but it looks neat and clean.’ He suggested that the people should be beware of the creature. ‘Let the prime minister swear by Ganga, which we all consider holy, that I have not delivered uninterrupted power to Varanasi,’ challenged the young CM. ‘There is power on Ramzan and on Diwali. And we are organising it for Christmas also,’ he taunted.
